Rev. Douglas E. Nelson a native of Carson, CA started working in local politics while in high school for then Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley. While attending Oregon State University on a football scholarship, Douglas was given the vision to develop the Levitical Network.
Early in his professional career, Douglas worked in Philanthropy for; Amateur Athletic Foundation (LA84), UniHealth & WorldVision Foundations, and is a founding member of Blacks in Philanthropy. He later returned to City Hall working in the administrations of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Villaraigosa's campaign for Mayor, and Councilmember Martin Ludlow,
Douglas is a sought after speaker and lecturer and consults in the areas of; Philanthropy, Community Development, Faith-Based Communities, and Economic Development. He has spoken at the White House and has served on many nonprofit boards and is an active member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Douglas has a Masters of Theological Studies from Faith Evangelical International Seminary, Tacoma, WA. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a minor in Political Science from Oregon State University and has several certificated programs from USC and Harvard Divinity Schools. He believes in continued education and is currently working towards his MDiv and Ph.D. degrees.
Douglas accepted his call to ministry in LA1995 and is currently serving as the Pastor of TrueLA Church in Los Angeles, CA.
